It's very durable and has high tuning potential with minimal effort, which made and makes it a popular choice and a legendary engine in the scene.

Yeah the head gaskets and cylinders are strong as fuck so it can just handle the turbo pressure. Those things aren't cheap at all and that is epic as fuck what you made there :P

Motor und Getriebe waren nicht so weit zerlegt, dass wieder etwas eingestellt werden müsste. Habe nur großen Service am Motor gemacht, Zahnriemen, Wasserpumpe, Simmerringe usw.

Already wondered who that pleb was >:D

Mettkrieger wrote:What's so special about the 2JZ engine?

What makes them special is that you can push them to crazy power levels without opening them (Stronger rods and pistons). With a bigger turbo, larger fuel injectors and a standalone ECU you can push these to 700 HP on stock internals, which is pretty crazy when the engine has like 300 HP stock. With stronger rods and pistons you can make 1000+ HP, which is probably plenty to kill yourself :D
They are not cheap engines, but still a decent value for the price. I paid around 3,4k for an Toyota Aristo halfcut (car cut in half in Japan) and sold the rest. So the engine was around 2,5k€. As an comparison, the S50 E36 M3 Engine is around 5k€, so thats like double the price for an non turbo engine...

My brithday present to myself:

phpBB [video]

Work in progress as you can see, gotta work on the rattling, but need to wait until the rain stops. I still have a lot of the stuff I used on my doors that I am going to use on my trunk lid and the sides and probably the bottom too.

same track. That rattling kinda noise you can still hear is nowhere near as loud IRL and you can only hear it when the trunk is open. Used about 3 to 4 sauareters of alu buthyl on trunk lid, the wheel wells, the spare wheel cover, the rear wall and the license plate. It'd be better if I put another layer on the lid, connecting the two layers of sheet metal, but I needed a break. Might go do it later. E: Did it now. Much better actually.

The sound when you close the trunk changed from tin can to s-class <3

It has a cast iron block like the 32, 33, 34 gtr's. Very very heavy but bullet proof

Forgot to post an update here. Car has been driving for a while now, its really fun! Pulls like a train, 2nd and 3rd gear just spins. I am currently building an exhaust and then I have to paint some things so it doesnt look like a trashcan.
