Football autism

The last football topic had died ages ago, so let's try a new one. Maybe directing football autism to a topic might save dear troolen's nerves a bit.
We could try talk all things football in here eventually, but for now I'd like to ask you something.

So, the ruler of an unspecified oil nation has finally noticed your skills in Football Manager and decided to bring you in to manage a top European club.
He tells you to put together a squad that will win the Champions League.
Money is not a problem, you can get any player you'd like. Any club will be persuaded to sell any player.

What sort of squad would you put together right now?

Well, you would want to build a squad which has the chance to grow together. So no point in bringing in stars in their late 20s, 30s imo. That being said I know that some "older" players would make the team better from the get-go, but building the team which is able to get far today and dominate the next 10 years would be kind of nice.
Would probably go like this:

Donnarumma
Odriozola-de ligt-Süle-hernandez
Kimmich-de jong
Coman-Havertz-Mbappe
Jesus

As backups guys like Martial, rodrygo, Sancho

Probably something like this

Ter Stegen
Kimmich-Süle-Umtiti-Hernandez
Dybala-Havertz-Sané
Mbappé-Jesus-Coman

Subs: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Kimpembe, Pavard, De Ligt, Sancho, Rashford, Vinícius Júnior

What I was getting at was winning the just the nearest championship or two, not thinking about growing together, so get in your Messis
I still like this
BeneficialCucumber wrote:Dybala-Havertz-Sané

I have noticed Kimmich, I do think he's good but don't really like his attitude. Maybe bit of a diva, too good too young.
But Süle? I haven't seen more than one game, but in that one Hummels really outshone him.

Süle is Bayern's center back no1 atm tbh. He has an insane physique and pace.

Would change coman for gnabry any day of the week btw.

I won't partake in any fantasy football league shenanigans as it's pointless imho, but I am always willing to discuss upcoming games and predictions for CL and national leagues.

Coman is way stronger than gnabry imo, while being younger. God knows how far he might be if he wouldn't be so injury ridden.
That being said, Havertz surprised me. I knew that he was good but the progress he made in the last year is insane. Would party hard if bayern would be able to get him. That would also explain why they don't close the James deal atm

I agree that coman might be stronger in 1vs1, but serge has way more drive to the goal, better scoring and is more versatile. All that plus the fact that he is more sturdy and far less prone to injuries (so far) led to my preference to him as a winger.

I haven't played any fantasy football, or football manager. I just started thinking after overdosing on football in the past few weeks.

If we're picking good old teams I'd probably have to take Barcelona 2003/04 when I started watching. My dad had a business trip to Barcelona and brought back a jersey and a scarf, explained some of the history between Madrid and the Catalans, and then we watched some football. Edgar Davids, Rafa Márquez, Puyol, Xavi, Saviola, Philip Cocu, Patrik Kluivert, Ronaldinho, Giovanni von Bronckhorst, Luis Enrique and Andres Iniesta. Might not have won anything great, but at least my <3 and my support for the team

Oh, I didn't actually put my roster in the first post. I have been watching van Dijk since since Celtic

Oblak
Jordi Alba-van Dijk-Chiellini(if the old man is given a cane so he will stay up when someone touches him)-Alexander-Arnold
Busquets-Wijnaldum-Pogba-Messi
Griezmann-Suarez

By the way, is every German a Bayern Munich fan? As far as I can tell, in Spain everyone is either a Real Madrid fan or FC Barcelona fan, and then fan of their own team. Spain has the two giants, Germany seems more unipolar. In Finland we don't have to worry about supporting any Finnish teams since no Finnish team is playing much in euro tourneys.

Tbh Bayern is not that popular in germany, apart from the fans. "Haters" are claiming that Bayern destroys the competition by always buying the best players of the competitors. Statistics say that that is bullshit and Bayern is like on the 8th rank when it comes to buying from other german clubs, but what can you do.

When it comes to CL/EL most people support the german teams, but there are still people who want to see Bayern fail. When the "german el clasico" Bayern vs Dortmund takes place it at least feels like that the majority wants to see Dortmund winning, though that is mostly to make the league more interesting (like this year for example)

Like mokke said: no one in Germany is neutral towards Bayern, it's either love or pure hate pretty much.

I am on the love-train btw :gostma:

I had a feeling there was a lot of Bayern Munich fans around, hence the question. I'm neutral, distinct lack of Finns to support them
