Yeah, Cleveland should be your first aim. St Louis is an ultimate sealclubbing machine, but you won't really appreciate it until you get better/more experienced, obviously.

And I elited a tier 1 ship is there an 'accelerate crew training button' or will the ship accumulate pointless XP (won't use gold to convert it)?

Can't find free XP either? Am I earning it? Or does it not exist?

You need to unlock ranks to get all of this, except for accelerated crew training

Yes, you have a crew. Or better, you got a captain. Enter the module tab and you'll find the captain on the right.

Right now there is no accelerated crew training as far as i know.

Got the St. Louis, which has quite a nice amount of guns/turrets. Most of the time I just fire HE at anything I see, which does damage, but I wonder what use AP is. Tried it a few times but it mostly bounced or did less damage than HE. In WoT of course AP is more used than HE on most guns, but how is it on ships?

I'm still grinding that 'rank' thinghy, but I can see the captain now. No idea what skills to pick but since the commaners don't have much skill I won't need to pick soon.

Too bad there is no 'accelerated crew training' or something else which prevents XP from stacking up on ships which have everything researched already

DD - destroyer
CA - cruiser
BB - battleship
CV - carrier

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong, as I haven't played since HE changes, but:

Playing DD - HE vs everything, although AP can do nice dmg vs low tier CAs.
Playing BB - Their reload is around 30secs, so it's impossible to change it on the fly, but the best case scenario would be
- AP used vs BB being at long range no matter the angle (shells will hit its deck)
- AP vs BB when shooting at the broadside at any range
- AP used vs same or higher tier CAs
- AP vs lower tier CAs usually demolishes them, overpen is possible though

Playing CA:
vs BB lower tier at long range try AP, if it doesn't do enough damage, switch to HE. In any other case - HE
vs lower and same tier CA - AP. If it doesn't do enough dmg, switch to HE

When shooting at DD or CV - HE. Low tier CAs can do some nice dmg to DDs with AP, as they don't overpen but the component damage is the more important thing here. Stopped DD is a dead DD.

CA: heavy or armored cruiser (203mm caliber guns)
CL: light crusier (155mm and less caliber guns )

since you have e.g. on the jap cruisers from T5 to T10 203mm guns, you can always try to shoot ap against other cruisers. Aim at the citadels (below smoke stacks and gun turrets) for max dmg

Managed to get a t5 cruiser (Omaha) which comes with a scout plane. Unfortunally I have no idea how to control said plane. I just launch it and it flies around till it's either shot out of the air or returns to my ship. Is it possible to steer it somewhere?

And another question: how do I ping the map?

Last time I played something with a scout plane you couldn't control it and I think if you open the auto pilot map u can ping
