Battery Protip:
While battling a pokemon, turn off augmented reality in the upper right corner for less battery usage
The background will be a grassfield instead of using the camera


Can't download from you store?
Android:
Download the APK from one of these mirrors: tcorex.store.aptoide.com - apkmirror.com
Allow Unknown Sources in Menu > Settings > Security
Transfer the APK into your phone if you downloaded it on your PC, or find it with the file explorer on your phone
Install Pokemon Go

iOS:
Logout of your Appstore account in settings
Change phone region to US or Australia in settings ( General > Language & Region )
Open the Appstore and search for Pokemon Go and initiate download
Create a new Apple ID and put none under billing and same region as you did for the phone ( Also need a corresponding postal code )
Verify that shit in whatever new e-mail you used
Download Pokemon Go

Just had an hour biking trip with great success.
Caught Jynx, Hypno, Venomoth, Clefairy, Eevee and a Machop.
Spent like 3-4 mins on the Jynx, as her combat power was 259.
Gotta get them Greatballs.

So I tried Pokemon Go ... aaaand its a huge disappointment.

- no battling against other trainers or pokemons
- if you don't live in a city, you are fucked ... no pokestops, no pokemons ... i did a 5km trip with my doge, found not a single one
- training pokemons? nope
- touch and throw balls at pokemons until you have captured it ... srsly?!
- rip in batteries
- app needs to be restarted every 10 minutes to actually work somehow
- got a egg this morning, put it into an incubator, walked 2km, distance in app .... 0.1km, yay

Uninstalled, not worth the trouble.

- if you don't live in a city, you are fucked ... no pokestops, no pokemons ... i did a 5km trip with my doge, found not a single one rather weird, i got friends living in villages with 300 people, still having like 5 pokestops
- training pokemons? nope atm pokemon can be trained with the candy, later there will be other possibilities (minigames, fighting)
- touch and throw balls at pokemons until you have captured it ... srsly?!
- rip in batteries if I recharge completely, I can play 6-7 hours. If you would play any other game for that amount of time, the battery wouldn't hold up longer.
- app needs to be restarted every 10 minutes to actually work somehow that is true. Though I can kind of understand that they underestimated the hype. This will get better, yesterday was official release, the week before it was already played all over the world even though it was only released in 3 countries. they will get to it.

This game is far from traditional and I can understand that people are frustrated and miss "the old playstyle". But I am really hyped, since I am not only pressing 2 buttons, but have to really look outside for pokemon and so on. I love this game and I covered ~25 additional km last week only for this app.

Nice, that sounds like fun actually. I never thought geocaching was all that fun despite working with GIS and geodata for a living. I'm even being forced to join in on geocaching with my colleagues whenever we're on work trips, but I'm there only for the social part. :p
Have to tips my colleagues about this, although they probably all ready are into it.

Fenks Mokku! I guess after reading that I'll give it another go.

I only got 3 pokestops around my village, one is like 200m away the other two around 20 minutes of walking. At work in the city there are 6 when going for lunch and I can get them twice - I think that will keep my pokeball storage up. The ones at my village - I'll check them during doge walkings.

The issue with the incubator also seems to work now. I got a bit distance while walking for lunch today. Might disable the power safe mode while playing Ash Ketchup.

My battery dies after 2 hours use, but it's probably because it's an old Samsung Galaxy S3. I previously had the HTC One Mini, but after fucking up the power button I can start it, and I've been too lazy to get it repair. Also because I expect a pricey repair)

Actually considering buying a powerbank, and I'll probably get my One Mini fixed when I'm back in my hometown.


Oh and, I was in the city centre, which made realize how fucking popular this shit is already, even when it's not officially released here yet.
I saw a pale snow basement dweller that probably just saw sun for the first time in year.
I saw a few other in their later teens between all the Pokestops.
But I also saw this cute girl with brown of hair that by my logic had control over 3 gyms with the highest CP Pokemon.
Sadly she was of Team Valour, so I gave her the finger and went on my way. #teaminstict
I did manage to take a gym myself, and I suspect some of those teens where in the same team as me, as after I had left the vicinity, someone else had put a Pokemon on it.

So now I'm waiting for the battery to charge up, and then I'm heading out again to take out a gym at a cemetery not far from here.
My resident is pretty much in farm land, so I suspect there aren't really many contesters, either way, I'll smack them down.

Oh and about the Pokestops, I have 1 or 2 at some distance from my home, but in the city centre, there's like +50.
They're all usually landmarks, buildings, monuments and whatnot.


Shits addictive tho, helps with the cardio.

before you buy a powerbank, wait for the PokemonGO+, this thing you wear as a bracelett and you collect pokestops automatically and you get notified if you meet pokemon (and which). will safe you all of your battery and you don't have to hold your phone the whole time
