How old is the PSU though? I might be making this up but I think I read somewhere that their power output degrades over time...

its like 5yo, but still even if at 50% power it should fire up as my pc doesnt use a lot of power when booting up. should only become a problem when under a lot of stress.

well bois, got my pc running again With my new motherboard. So thanks again for the diagnosis helps.

Also is pretty nice because it turns out I still have warranty on my old motherboard, meaning that I can get something off their shop for the price. (the same motherboard is not being sold there anymore, so then they let you pick something else for same money, or you can pay a bit extra)
