this is how it worked like 80 years ago, these days you got electronical devices and at least 3 of them.
even back in the days there were some unique systems but normally you dont get into touch with that unless you are a billionaire :P

This type of lock is not uncommon at all even today, and it is still perfectly save (my grandmother has one). What they show in heist movies (listening with a stethoscope or even electric amplification) doesn't work. A quality safe takes ages to open. When someone dies and didn't give the code to the heirs that's fun. The manufacturers have technicians for that, but even they need 10 hours+ to get in.
